Best Birthday Present Ever

Last night we were going to have leftover chicken and rice casserole. I know, I know.... boring, boring, boring. But hey, at least I wasn't cooking chili or some other ridiculous winter meal when it was 110 degrees outside.

***Side note. That's not an exaggeration. It really was 110 degrees yesterday. 115 with the heat index. you may commence the pity for us all now. ****

But anyway, I decided at the last minute that I didn't want boring left overs. Today is my birthday and I wanted to start celebrating early. Money was no option. So we threw caution to the wind and headed over to a cheap Mexican restaurant where we could get tacos for 99 cents each. We Websters know how to live it up, folks.

I digress. The reason I am writing this post is to share with you all that while eating our cheap tacos, I received the best birthday present ever. The best, I say! A man got up from his table, pushed his chair back, walked over to our table, and actually said these words, "I just wanted to let you all know that you have the best behaved children I have ever seen."

WHAT?????? I almost choked on my crunchy hard shell taco. Rob and I both looked around in disbelief. Surely he wasn't talking to us. But all I saw behind us was a screaming baby and a 5 year old throwing chips at his Mom. Maybe he was talking to us. Could it be? And then I looked down at my sweet daughter silently working on writing her name on the children's placemat and my son who was diligently and quietly eating his chips and salsa.

That kind man caught us in a very rare moment. And that was all it took for him to declare my children the best children ever in the history of all children. Well, he didn't quite say that, but I knew that is what he meant.

We thanked him and then Rob and I just stared at each other. It was the best. birthday. present. ever.

After the man payed his bill and left Will threw his salsa all over the table, screamed to be let out of his booster seat, and refused to let us help him with his cup which he spilled all over me. Bennett got mad at Will and yelled at him all while refusing to stay in her chair.

But that's okay. I already had my present.
