Dear Lainey

Hey Lainey Bug,

Guess what? You are 10 weeks old! In some ways I can't believe it because it seems like you were born yesterday, but in other ways it seems like you have always been a part of our family. I already can't imagine our lives without you.

As I write this you are sleeping right beside me with your arms straight out in the air. I think it is pretty awesome when you sleep like that. When you wake up I know that you will smile at me when we make eye contact. Your smiles are the best. You will smile at anyone now if they smile first. At 10 weeks you are almost sleeping through the night. You do one feeding in the middle of the night, but it is a quick one. I think you will drop it soon. But not too soon. You are my last baby and I really love our time together when it is dark outside and the house is quiet. I will miss it when it is over.

You can almost roll over from your tummy to your back. I think it will happen any day now. You are a very flexible baby. You have to be. You have already been on 4 or 5 two hour road trips and went on a 4 hour one so your silly parents could go to a football game. And you are about to take a longer one this weekend. Your naps get interrupted to go to gymnastics or the pre-school pick up line, but that's okay. You roll with the punches.

You love music. Classical is your favorite although you are digging the holiday playlist Mommy has on currently. You love to be held. Your favorite book is "Goodnight Moon." You think your big brother and big sister are the funniest things you have ever seen. They take such good care of you. They give you pacis when you are crying and sing you songs to help you sleep.

You weigh 11 lbs 6 oz now and are the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for length. You love to grasp fingers and rest your head on someone's shoulder. You don't like to be left alone. Which is good because we don't like to leave you alone either.

Your Daddy and I watch you all the time. Especially at night. Like right now. You have a half smile on your face as you are dreaming. I wonder what you are dreaming about. Maybe you are not dreaming at all, but rather are smiling because you know something. A secret. You know that there isn't a baby in this world more loved than you. And that is definitely something to smile about.
